Here another S.O.S. enthousiast who (sorry) can't write French too well. So excuse me for writing in english.

So far I have riden the S.O.S. Classic 71 & 88 and the Rocket 99 (Dutch coastal conditions, my weight 85 kg.). It may start to sound boring, but like Kustom, like Toro the boards have blown me away! The first classic shapes I would really consider riding, so far (over the last years) I've been more of an Evo style fan. I now have the S.O.S. Rocket Fish 68, 82 and the Rocket 92 on order. What I definitely notice amongst the riders that have sailed these boards is the absolute stoke for them. The enthousiasm for sharing this experience. I am not likely to be found around your French waters but if any of you come to Holland and see this guy with the above mentioned boards and Superfreak sails: tap me on the sholder and a testride is all your's.

how about the confort in rough seas guys ? The SOS looks like they have rather thin pads, are they still confortable to ride ? Or are they stiff and nervous like, say the JP boards ?

C'est bien beau tout ça, la legereté et la performance, mais comment est le confort en navigation ?
Les pads ont l'air plutot fins, est-ce qu'elles restent confortables dans le mechant clapot ?

the boards have normal pads, but without extra heeldampers.A direct feel. The ride is comfortable but that is also due to the shape. they surf so smooth.
I noticed that the boards are not as stif(i speak now about the classic rocket)f as some full carbon custom mades i rode before. They got some more "flex". I know sean experienced with certain flex in the tails (read: not extreme flexitails or so..)---but i don't know what the exact storie on these boards are...
But on landings with high jumps i know it "flexes"....(I know what it is to land really really stiff boards so there is a difference)
I got the classic 88 and 71 and they both go through the chop like a hot knive in the butter. (of course these boards are made for control)
The 99 feels way more stiff. it's so light en it got a very direct feel.

I think I read somewhere Sean saying he experienced with a construction technology that had some "flex", maybe in the Hotsails forum.
It would be definitely interesting to have boards made in light sandwich construction , with the flex of the old Clarkfoam customs of the past.
Anyway, I wish the SOS had thicker pads, like the Tabou boards for instance, or the AHD. Even better if they had shock absorbers like Exocet or Starboard..; :wink:

La SOS99 est quand même idéale pour les conditions pas top, comme c'etait le cas à wimereux il y a un mois (et déja cinq fois le mois dernier). Je me souviens bien que Christian disait en rigolant que je allais jouer au submarine, alors que quelques minutes plus tard je m'amusais à fond dans des belles petites vagues.
Et même armée d'une 4.5 la planche reste relativement confortable pour moi (bcp plus confortable que les JP's et autre Fanatics) et pour les waverides ça reste aussi génial: doux, précis, vif!

Un jour de test à Wissant s'impose...

I don't think that the SOS boards are a hard ride. The pads do their job well. But it's always a compromis of comfort/direct ride-responce etc..
I surf also a lot on exocet. Those pads absorb loads of energy, but in a way they also take away the direct feel/response. Exocet got a comfort of a citroen car, and the SOS you can see as an audi S model---hard en direct but still comfort. A full carbon board without pads got a feeling as a ferrari.

Anyway we talk about some flex...
note: these SOS boards are not as "flexi" as the good old tiga's

aujourd'hui (jeudi), il y a déjà bien du vent ce matin mais je ne pourrait
pas naviguer avant samedi. Pour l'instant il annonce du vent dès le matin
et vu que la marée sera haute à 14h42 (coef 62) ça passe le matin.
J'irais surement à wissant ou wimereux (où la pointe aux oies) selon
l'orientation.
And you, tu seras dans le coin samedi?

Les fishes sont là!!!

Les photos viennent... les jours de test SOS aussi!!!
Je m'excuse de ne pas etre decendu, mais ça fait 3 semaines que je ne navigue plus parceque j'ai été opéré des yeux (laser: ne plus jamais porter lunettes ni lentilles, yes!!!), et il me faut encore quelques jours de repos avant de me jeter à fond dans le windsurf hivernal...

Autre nouveauté de chez Sean Ordonez Shapes déjà disponible en serie dans les USA:
des planches paddle surf / longboard / planche à voile en epoxy (mais avec une flex comparable avec une classic longboard de surf)... L'importeur hollandais -Joost- en a déjà commandé quelques... :grin:

livraison prévu: avril...

Yesterday the Rocket Fish boards arrived in the Netherlands, off course I picked mine up immediately. :smile:

First impressions: light, nice shape and very cool! Some pictures to give you an impression, hopefully a report on how it sails, pretty soon. (I know TORO will make his wet today):

May I ask you a favor ? what's the measurement in centimeters of the maximum spread between the front and back footstraps (between the first back insert of the front strap, and the last front insert of the back strap) ? :smile:

I ask because I need a wide stance when I surf (between 43,5 and 45 cm).
