“The Evolutionary crossover”

What it is and what it does:

• A new style Crossover board that blends Evo waveboard performance with fl at water blasting and freestyling.

• In the waves, the Kombats offer a fl uid, aerial and tweaked waveriding style in a versatile package that makes the most of any conditions.

• Thanks to its new rockerline, on fl at or choppy water, the Kombats deliver fast blasting ability with the eagerness to pop tricks and churn out jibes like a knife through butter.

What’s new:

• The shape: it’s a combination of the Evo’s surfboard rails and under hull shape, with a stretched Evo outline and a new purposely developed rocker.

Features:

• Evo-derived wide outlines for quick accelerations, earlier planing and a wider wind range.

• Rounded pintail for looser, snappier cutbacks and jibes.

• Multiple footstrap insert positions, inboard for all out waveriding and freestyling, outboard for a more blasting stance.

• Domed deck: for extra comfort and grip, whether the inboard or outboard settings are used.

• Evo surfboard rails for smooth and fl owing carving abilities.

• High nose kick for maximum clearance in choppy waters, white water and steep waves.

Most suitable sail type:

Wave sails, freestyle sails, and no cam freeride sails.

Construction:

• Built to the Dur-X construction standard and available in either Dram or Wood, the Kombats boast the strongest construction available from Starboard. The reinforcement patches are all oversized, covering all stress concentration points and using exotic materials such as Carbon-KevlarTM,

Dyneema and pure carbon. Double sandwich is applied to both deck and bottom.

• The Starboard Dur-X standard is arguably the most durable one in the world, with the warranty claim rates estimated as the lowest in the industry by a significant margin.

In comparison:

• Compared to the Acid and Evo ranges, the Kombats are not as dedicated to wavesailing, since it is also designed for fl at water blasting and

freestyling too. The Kombats are therefore more suitable for the expert sailor who is looking for versatility in not only waves but also fl at and

choppy water conditions. The Acid and Evo boards are more suitable for the sailor looking for a dedicated waveriding tool.

• Compared to the Freesex range, the Kombats are far more adapted to waveriding with it’s Evo-derived design cues. It therefore offers a more

classic crossover feel, blending evenly the need to waveride, to blast and jibe, with the pop to do freestyle tricks. The Freesex range is more

‘pure-freestyle’ orientated and is therefore more suitable for sailors looking to freestyle and blast around, without going into hardcore waveriding.

• Compared to the Carves of similar volume, the Kombats are more orientated towards waveriding and freestyling than the smallest Carves, that

are faster, made for pure freeride fun, bump and jump blasting and ultimate jibing.

• Compared to the S-Types, the Kombats are capable of evo-esque waveriding and are far more maneuver orientated, whether it’s for jibing, free

styling or just carving. The S-Types are made for top end speed and limited freestyling in Supercross competitions, and are therefore much faster

with a far more ‘locked-in slalom’ feel.

Shape specifics:

• Evo-derived outline, relatively wide and quite short, for maximum response, range and aerial control.

• Evo surfboard rails, for smooth, fl owing carving in jibes or waves.

• New rounded pintail shape for added incisiveness in cutbacks and jibes.

• Heavily domed deck for added comfort and grip in any footstrap position.

• New Kombat specific rocker that combines fl at water blasting ability with fl owing waveriding performance: It is relatively fl at in the very tail, with

plenty of nose-kick and curvature overall.

Standard parts and fittings:

• High performance, G10 bump and jump fins designed by Curtis Hesselgrave

• Starboard Wavestraps (Blue colour) for maximum comfort.

• ‘Fish Scale Tread’ uni-directional pads

• 6x Anti strap-twist plates

• Stickers
